Courtesey of Mayor Richard M. Daley

The Chicago Network's 19th Annual Women in the Forefront Luncheon

As the Event Chair, The Center’s CEO Heather Becker was asked to participate in the The Chicago Network’s 19th annual Women in the Forefront Luncheon on April 10, 2008 with guest speaker Edie Weiner and featuring Mayor Richard M. Daley.  This event was designed to educate and inspire the growing number of professional women in the Chicago area to break down the barriers of diversity and accept the varying perspectives of men and women as positive differences in the workplace.

Edie Weiner, President, Weiner, Edrich, Brown, Inc., shared an eye-opening and original perspective on issues related to women and diversity, particularly in regards to casting off assumptions and stereotypes to build stronger foundations in the work place, and society as a whole.  “Leading by Example: Women and Diversity Take on the Future” emphasized accepting differences of both women and men working together, which can pave the way for a stronger future in all areas of life and business.

Mayor Daley was kind enough to show his support for TCN by applauding their work and dedication to the city of Chicago.  His message reflected the organization’s belief in supporting women in the workplace, “but also in the quality of life in the city.”
